Stock Market Alert - LVLT Down on Markets

Posted on Tuesday 27 February 2007

Stock Market Alert - LVLT suffered the same fate as many stocks did on Tuesday, trading down over 6% to close the regular session at $6.33 on Tuesday. Trading in the stock was heavy, with over 57 million shares of the stock changing hands, compared to a normal daily average volume of just over 38 million shares traded. It will be interesting to see how the stock reacts on Wednesday morning; a lot will depend on how the Chinese stock market does. If that market continues to freefall, then you can expect renewed bloodshed in the American markets on Wednesday.

Stock Market Alert - LMRA Continues to Weaken

Posted on Monday 26 February 2007

Stock Market Alert - LMRA continued to spiral lower, dropping an additional 10% on Monday to add to its recent decline. Volume was fairly light on the day though, which is a good sign for shareholders in the company, as only 1.2 million shares of the stock changed hands, compared to a normal daily average of 1.27 million shares traded. More worrying would be if LMRA had dropped 10% on a large spike in volume. We will continue to monitor LMRA as it moves closer to its earnings report in early March. LMRA closed on Monday with a market cap of just under $80 million dollars.

Stock Market Alert - BRCD Up on Q1 Earnings

Posted on Monday 26 February 2007

Stock Market Alert - BRCD had a strong regular session on Monday and an even stronger afterhours session after reporting their Q1 earnings report. The stock is currently up over 5% in the afterhours session, and has a chance of setting a new 52 week high of $9.42 on Tuesday. BRCD reported quarterly earnings of 17 cents per share on revenues of $224.2 million dollars in Q1. Wall Street analysts had been expecting earnings of 13 cents per share on revenues of $214.8 million dollars. BRCD management is seemingly fairly upbeat, and I wouldn’t be surprised to see a number of upgrades on Tuesday.

Stock Market Alert - ARRS Down on Bid

Posted on Monday 26 February 2007

Stock Market Alert - ARRS had a rough session on Monday, trading down over 9% to close the regular session at $13.91 after Ericsson announced that they were putting in a bid for Norway’s Tandberg Television. Ericsson’s bid came in 18.2% above ARRS’s bid, and analysts seem to think that ARRS is unlikely to top this bid and get into a bidding war with Ericsson. The market was disappointed in the counter-bid and punished ARRS, as the market thought that it would have been a great acquisition for ARRS. As I said, ARRS is likely not going to counterbid.

Stock Market Alert - COR Up on Outlook

Posted on Monday 26 February 2007

Stock Market Alert - COR had an extremely strong day on Friday, trading up over 13% to close the regular session at $1.86 after the stock was upgraded by Rodman & Renshaw on Friday. Volume was heavy on the day, with over 3.3 million shares of the stock changing hands, compared to a normal daily average volume of just over 300k shares traded. Could this be the beginning of a resurgence for COR, whose stock has been savaged in recent months due to some preclinical animal testing data? Seems to me like there is a definite favorable risk/reward situation here, stay tuned for more updates on COR.
